They’ve arrived!

The girls just called – they arrived safely, met Pastor Valentin at the airport and are now relaxing on the roof deck at his house. Flights went well, they report.

The team will soon connect with another visiting group, a church from San Francisco. We’ll keep you updated at least weekly.

Thanks for your support of these students!

Owen.

Here they go!

This evening Annie, Maddy and Emily met at SeaTac airport to begin their journey to Port-au-Prince. They’ll arrive mid-day tomorrow; we’ll update the blog when they arrive.

Over the next two weeks the team will work alongside a local Haitian church under the leadership of Pastor Michel Valentin as they continue work on a vocational training school building. The large assortment of chalk, bubbles and candy in the team’s luggage will be used for children’s activities spread throughout the trip.

We’ll keep you updated through this blog. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact me at owen@spu.edu or (206) 427-1296.

Thanks for your support of these students!

Meet the team: Annie Laurie

Hi! My name is Annie Laurie Hund and I am currently a freshman at Seattle Pacific University. My intended       major is Communications with a minor in Business. I love singing, playing guitar, acting, dancing, and all kinds of sports. I love coffee, hanging out with friends, spending time with family, going on adventures, taking pictures, laughing, hiking, and being involved in Young life. Oh and i LOVE to have fun! I can’t thank God enough for answering my prayer about visiting Haiti. A few years ago I prayed about the opportunity to serve there at some point in my life. I never thought it would be this soon, or even through my school. But God’s timing is perfect and I truly believe this experience will change my life. I am extremely blessed to be going with Emily and Maddy. They are both unique, beautiful women in Christ who have a heart to serve.  Not to mention every time we’re together we always end up laughing about something. Laughter is good! This is my first missions trip and I’m excited to serve in any way that I can. God is already doing amazing work in the beautiful country of Haiti. I love Jesus with all my heart and I can’t wait for what He has in store!

Words can’t express my gratitude toward you all for your continuous prayer and support. It means so much!

Lots of love,

Annie Laurie

Meet the Team: Emily

Hi all! My name is Emily Birks and I am currently a sophomore here at SPU. My intended major is Psychology with a minor in Educational Ministry. I love Seattle, iced caramel macchiato’s, thrift store shopping, music, movies, star gazing, taking pictures, and laughing. I also love spending time with my friends and family.

Every summer for the past six years I have been actively involved in the camping ministry. But this summer I am changing things up and going to the country of Haiti, to serve God in a new place with new people. Honestly, I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity. It’s going to be different, but I know God has some beautiful things in store for me there. My teammates and I have already had a blast getting to know each other, and I am looking forward to our many adventures, continuous laughter, and the unforgettable memories we will share with each other, as well as with the people of Haiti.

Thanks for your interest in this exciting chapter of our lives, and I can’t wait to share what God shows us and teaches us throughout this journey.

Peace!
